PS124 Room Conversion
Brooklyn, NY | 2025 | 1,345 sf | Space Planning+Interior Design | Completed
Linearscape collaborated closely with the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) and the school principal and staff to transform an existing library at PS124 in Brooklyn to best serve the students and align with the school’s educational mission.
Through an in-depth analysis of existing classroom utilization and a comprehensive assessment of the school’s evolving needs, Linearscape proposed a dynamic reconfiguration of the library. The design converts the outdated space into two distinct yet interconnected environments: a STEM and art classroom and a multi-media digital library.
The STEM and art classroom is designed to support interdisciplinary learning for all grade levels(K-5), facilitating science and art instruction while promoting hands-on, project-based exploration. The multi-media digital library integrates advanced technologies, such as Quantum Space and Dynamic Floor to create immersive visual environment to facilitate interactive learning experience. Additionally, the library functions as a flexible, multi-use hub, addressing the diverse and evolving needs of the student and teacher community.
This project exemplifies innovative design strategies that respond to contemporary educational demands, fostering an environment where creativity and technology converge to enhance learning outcomes.
