“Architecture begins with drawing a line in the landscape. A physical line and a symbolic line, representing the movement and connection from urban environments to architecture, architecture to landscape, form to function and from structure to tectonics. This network of lines interweaves to form a field of activities that together generate a Linearscape.”

We are committed to designing innovative, fun, and adaptable learning spaces.

We collaborated closely with the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) and the school principal and staff to transform an existing library at PS 124 in Brooklyn into one STEM/art classroom and one multimedia library to best serve the students and align with the school’s educational mission. Read more about the project here.

We celebrate openness, transparency, and connection between people and place.

For the Interstate Environmental Commission’s new home at BioBAT, Linearscape proposed an efficient layout for arranging the lab benches to minimize the run for mechanical ducts and to mitigate the issues with existing sloped floor. Visual connections throughout the lab space and office space were designed to bring views and light to every corner of the working environment. Read more about the project here.

We cultivate connections between people and their environment.

Our work has an intimate connection with nature and emerges from a respect for the basic elements of land, water, vegetation, and topography. We believe that mutually beneficial relationships between communities and the built and natural environment lead the path towards a Linearscape, the design philosophy behind our work. It never stays the same, constantly evolving from place to place and time to time.

Wild Walk is designed as an elevated trail of bridges that creates a learning landscape, bringing visitors up into the treetops to offer a new perspective of the forest. We collaborated closely with the Wild Center, a non-profit organization committed to helping people explore the natural environment of the Adirondacks. Read more about the project here.

We believe every project provides an opportunity to create something new and memorable, even with a limited budget.

We worked with the non-profit organization, Downstate Technology Center, on a series of design interventions in their two-story biotechnology laboratory and office building. The interventions enhance the vibrant energy and creative nature of the start-up science facility and strengthen its connections to the neighborhood and broader life-science community. Read more about the project here.

We believe in the power of design, its impact on the built environment, and its potential as an agent for social change.

We engage in exploration, research, and collaboration to create design solutions that engage nature, nurture symbiotic ecosystems, and cultivate connections between people and place. We are committed to work that is socially and environmentally responsible and actively participate in non-profit and research projects. Read more about our design philosophy and approach here.

We’d love to work with you.
