BioBAT Wayfinding Graphics

Brooklyn, New York | 2017 | 10,000sf | Branding & Environmental Graphics Design

We are working with the non-profit organization BioBAT on a series of design interventions in their raw, industrial space located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park. The interventions will enhance the vibrant energy and creative nature of the start-up science facility and strengthen its connections to the neighbourhood and broader life-science community. The design strategies will encourage the neighbouring community to access the waterfront site and participate in the development of this important landmark.

Working within a limited budget Linearscape has designed a series of wayfinding and branding graphics that encourage the public to engage with the site, guide visitors to and around the building, and give an identity to what was previously a vacant and raw industrial space. Design interventions include floor indicators and directional wayfinding graphics, branding signage, and an acoustic ceiling art installation. In a broader effort to connect BioBAT to its community, Linearscape has engaged architecture students from the New York City College of Technology to participate in various design charettes.
